Shell Rimula R5 E uses selected synthetic base oils and additives to reduce fuel consumption and to ensure protection throughout the range of temperatures and pressures that are recorded in modern engines. It is the ideal choice for fleet managers of heavy-duty trucks and buses.

The combination of synthetic base oils and an advanced additive system ensures excellent protection even at low temperatures, since the excellent cold flow characteristics contribute to the protection of your engine.

Energy saving
Thanks to its excellent flow and friction characteristics, Shell Rimula R5 E 10W-40 can contribute to lower fuel consumption than a conventional SAE15W-40 oil. Laboratory simulation tests have shown that 10W-40 oils such as Shell Rimula R5 E can reduce fuel consumption by up to 1.7%.

Long-lasting protection
Synthetic base oils enhance the protective power of the oil in two ways:

1. Better oxidation control: Shell Rimula R5 E shows a life span up to 30% higher in industry standard tests than conventional oils of the previous generation
2. Constant wear protection: synthetic oils such as Shell Rimula R5 E have better flow characteristics than standard SAE 15W-40 oils. This means that, in moderate frost conditions, they can reach critical bearings 25% faster, and provide additional protection at temperatures at which conventional oils may not flow.

3. Why use Shell Rimula R5 E?

   Shell Rimula R5 E is approved by many manufacturers for use in all types of engines, with the exception of the most recent ones. It is an excellent choice for vehicle fleet managers in locations with large room temperature excursions: a single oil suitable for protection, regardless of the season. It also helps control operating costs because it further reduces fuel consumption.

   Shell Rimula R5 is suitable for US 2002, Euro 2, 3 and some Euro 4 engines. For greater performance and protection of the latest generation of low emission engines, in particular those equipped with a particulate filter (DPF), we recommend the use of our advanced low-emission products: Shell Rimula R6 LM or LME.
