Hydraulic oil for industrial applications
Hydrolic oil is the heart of hydraulic systems, its function is to transport mechanical energy.
A hydraulic system is generally composed of:
- Hydraulic oil tank Hydraulic oil filter (cartridge, mesh)
- Regulating valves (flow and pressure)
- Distribution valves
- Heat exchanger (Optional)
The main characteristics of a hydraulic fluid are: Viscosity; Viscosity index; Resistance to oxidation; Filterability; Anti-wear properties; Air release
Viscoity is one of the most important parameters in choosing a hydraulic oil. It represents the internal resistance to the flow of a fluid and is measured for industrial oils in ISO VG.
Hydraulic oil 46 or 68 difference? It is precisely the viscosity. The first has an ISO 46 viscosity at 100 ° C, the other has an ISO 67 viscosity at 100 ° C.
We always recommend choosing the viscosity indicated by the system manufacturer for the hydraulic fluid. An easy way to understand if the chosen viscosity is not correct and to touch the hydraulic oil tank, if it is too hot and you can hear the hydraulic pump cavitating then maybe you have chosen too viscous oil,
In our shop you will find offers for hydraulic oil 68 - 46 -32 - 100 - 22 - 15
The viscosity index represents how the viscosity of a lubricant changes as the temperature changes. It is one of the most important characteristics for a hydraulic fluid, in fact the high index idarulic oils have better performances. One of the specifications that distinguishes them is the HVLP. High index hydraulic oils have better thermal stability, can operate in a wide range of temperatures and better resist oxidation.
Then there are hydraulic fluids without Zinc, they are lubricants with low environmental impact but which guarantee exceptional performance.
To summarize in order to choose the correct hydraulic oil for your system, you need to choose the right viscosity, evaluate if you need an oil with another viscosity index due to temperature variations, choose the additive package for your application and the oil-cab interval .
Attention the color is generally brown. If you find a red hydraulic oil inside, it is most likely ATF oil, if in the hydraulic circuit of an excavator or tractor you put a straw yellow hydraulic oil that also lubricates the brakes then it is sae 10w30 or 80w oils.
The hydraulic oil cost varies according to the service life, if it is high index and the type of additives. Discover all our offers on hydraulic oil.
